Buckwheat
(Fagopyrum esculentum)
Flowers:
Buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum), a plant almost forgotten, has a lot
of little red, pink and white flowers, happy and looking surprised in
the face of the sun and moon over the Asian plains. Bees look desperately
for them and, when they find them, they do not leave until they take
all the pollen. The buckwheat blossoms continuously, for 50 days, starting
with July and ending at the beginning of the autumn.
Leaves:
They have a heart shape. In every leaf you can almost feel that beats
a heart, feel the sap flowing through the veins.
The stem:
One powerful gnarled rod, having the same green color as the leaves.
Seeds:
People look for buckwheat seeds since forever. They may have looked
for those seeds even before they received the wheat from the gods. Then,
the buckwheat fell into an unworthy oblivion. But not of all us forgot
about it: in the Asian steppe they still use its seeds and its honey.
The Buckwheat seeds have a black color, like trying to hide who-knows-what
secrets from us.
Medical products:
First of all, according to tradition, the most useful are the flowers
with the young stems which can be used in making decoctions, juice,
macerations. Still, the golden mine is the beans: you can find in this
"black wheat" bean a lot of extraordinary remedies for the
vascular system of the human body. The buckwheat products are efficient
with venous insufficiency, hemorrhoids, digestive and renal hemorrhages,
bruises and edemas. The aphrodisiac qualities of the buckwheat flowers
and especially those of the buckwheat beans have been discovered by
ancient Asians and are promoted and valued today by all yoga practicians.
Usual dishes:
The buckwheat flour (semolina) is a very nutritious food. There are
a lot of products that can be obtained, among these being the buckwheat
milk, very necessary in case of lack of calcium in the organism. The
buckwheat flours have a high energetic value. Its nutritional value
seems to be almost the same as that of rice. The main product that uses
buckwheat is bread. It is said that, though it lacks the taste of the
wheat bread, it is a lot more nutritional and healthier.
Contraindications:
No buckwheat product is toxic. There may be, though, some allergic reactions
to it. Do not forget that buckwheat has been used for a long time by
human kind, without any problems.
Who can use it:
There are no age or sex restrictions. It can be eaten by anyone, especially
because of its high nutritional and energetic values and because of
its fortifying qualities over the vascular system. Moreover, the buckwheat
products are recommended in the treatment of frigidity on women.
Impulse:
Been a good remedy for the circulatory system, it is obvious that the
buckwheat will increase the blood circulation which, in turn, gives
a better functioning of the entire organism, including the sexual organs.
As you probably know, the sexual organs need a powerful vascularisation.
This is the simplest and the most thorough explanation needed. This
might explain the vitality of the Slavic peoples, which are big buckwheat
consumers.
