Nourisment of the Gods - Chocolate was associated with both the Aztec and the Mayan Gods of fertility (Goddess for the Aztecs and God for the Mayans) and for good reason - when the cocoa harvest was good there would be plenty of newborn babies on the way soon after. Now why do you suppose that is?

Chocolate contains chemicals that effect neurotransmitters in the brain and a substance related to caffeine called theobromine.

A Natural Aphrodisiac has been one of chocoloate's many uses since the dawn of human history. The aphrodisiac qualities of chocolate are most often associated with the simple sensual pleasure of its consumption. More recently, however, evidences suggests that serotonin and other chemicals found in chocolate, such as phenethylamine, can act as mild sexual stimulants.

Men Can't Go Wrong with chocolate. Even if it didn't have any aphrodisiac properties, giving the gift of chocolate to a woman is sure to put her in a good mood. Combine some rich, dark chocolate with a red wine and some silk sheets and... you'll see why the Mayans and Aztecs put chocolate and love-making together in their ideologies.
